Carl House Florals

With over 15 years of experience in the floral industry Lindy is a talented floral designer with a passion for creating beauty with the use of flowers.  Her talent and artistry shines through with each of her creations. She loves meeting with clients, especially brides, working to make their wedding dreams come to life through the use of colorful and fragrant floral decor!  “There is nothing I love more than seeing a bride’s vision come to life!”

For Carl House brides making the bouquets may be her favorite, but she is becoming a big fan of the pomander (Kissing Balls).  “My goal is to give the brides what they want, and still stay within their spending plan.”

“There are so many options when it comes to florals at an event.  Beyond the bouquet, I love decorating the ceremony site with floral color and fragrance.  Lining the ceremony aisle has also become a huge trend in the industry.  I love my job as each client and each floral creation is unique and new, making my job such a joy!  When I show a bride her bouquet and she begins to cry because it more than exceeds her expectations and she hugs me tight……. that is my greatest reward.”

Lindy would be delighted to meet with you to learn how she can create the perfect floral accents at your special event! Please contact her at florals@carlhouse.com

Sarah Eubanks: The Top 5 Photo Spots at Carl House

There are so many wonderful picture spots around the grounds at Carl House! It can be difficult for brides and their photographers to discern where they want to take family pictures and where the best bride and groom spots are. One of our favorite photographers and former Carl House employee, Sarah Eubanks, recommends her top five locations around the property:

1.  Front of the House. In Carl House’s case, please judge the book by its cover!  The front facade of Carl House is classic and beautiful, which can be expected in every nook and cranny of the gorgeous venue.  This shot is a must!

2.  Staircase. What is more elegant than a grand staircase?  This is one of my favorite spots to shoot bridal portraits.  The stairs allow me to photograph from so many different angles, and the nearby window always provides the most beautiful light.

3.  Brick. Ok, I know bricks can be cliche, but the brickwork at Carl House is so unique.  The bricks have been repurposed from old structures, so there is an imperfection that adds gorgeous texture to the background of an image.

4.  Window. The gentle north light that graces the second floor window at the front of Carl House makes for a gorgeous sillouette of a bride and her gown.  The resulting image is dramatic, glamourous, and timless.  This is a photographer favorite, and a bride favorite!

5.  The Grounds. The setting sun brings warmth and glowing light to Carl House’s weeping willow in the back garden.  It makes for a dreamy and dramatic background of any subject.  This is often a couple’s favorite image.

A Tour of the Carl House Gardens with BB Webb

Hello all!

I hope your planning is coming along splendidly! I absolutely LOVE the gardens at Carl House! There are so many different areas that guests can utilize for their wedding and reception, or any other event for that matter. The gazebo and benches placed throughout the property give a sense of home that I have not experienced at any other venue I’ve seen. I love that I am getting married in the grand ballroom, but wish I could have another ceremony in the spring outside too! Take a tour of the gardens at Carl House with BB below!

All You Need to Know About Ordering Invitations!

Ordering invitations can be quite a complicated process for brides. When you think about it, we’ve been accustomed to just picking up invitations and envelopes for social events at our local Target or Hallmark store. It has always been assembled for us until now. When it comes time to order invitations for a wedding, there is often confusion over what to include on an invitation, how to word it, and if a reception, RSVP, and accommodation card is really necessary to purchase. I made a quick video to help explain what each part of an invitation is to help y’all figure out what you should and should not include for your wedding. Enjoy!

New Additions To Our Wedding Rental List Are Here!

Carl House is excited to announce that we have new rental items for our brides to use!

It’s a new trend for brides to have bird cages for guests to place cards in on their gift table. No need to order one that you only use once just for the event…we have one available in-house for all clients to use!

Our bird cage from Etsy will have ivory ribbon and a champagne card reading "Cards."

We have also noticed that clients enjoy displaying pictures on their guest book table for friends and family to see during their reception. We now offer a 15” digital photo frame for brides and grooms to show pictures without overloading the guest book table with frames. Just bring in an SD memory card with the pictures loaded on it; the frame will play the pictures in a slideshow for you! No work required!

Plug your SD memory card in and let the slideshow begin!

Want to have one of these items at your next event? Be sure to talk to Kelsey about renting the bird cage or the digital photo frame. Your guests will surely enjoy them!

Introducing Kelsey’s Wedding VIDEO Blog!

Hello all!

I hope that everyone’s planning is coming along smoothly! I’m heading home to see the parents this weekend…in addition to my birdcage veil and wedding dress sash just in from Etsy!

Love that my veil will match the color of my dress!

Not on my dress...but this is my belt!

I even bought this funny (and quite frankly, kind of creepy) little Styrofoam head from Hobby Lobby for the veil to shape itself over the next few months.

Not even my dog will come near this thing!

This week’s wedding blog post is the first of several VIDEO posts that I will be sharing on YouTube and this blog. BB and I talk about my wedding planning, summer trends to keep your guests cool, and discuss our new Facebook competition for the best engagement story. Click the link below to view the video! Up next week…the basics of wedding invitations.

The Garden Wedding….my vision conceived!

When envisioning Carl House in the early stages….traveling to many venues all over Georgia, I knew for SURE that I needed to build a GORGEOUS garden and ceremony location. The first occupants on this property were the Durham family who owned and operated an ornamental plant nursery on the 4 acres where Carl House now sits. Theirs was a quiet time in the small town of Carl, Georgia.
Over the years I have LOVED meeting the great and great, great grandchildren of Mama Cora Durham and her daughters Elizabeth and Istalina who first moved onto the property in 1903, long, long before fax machines, space travel and the internet.

When I came into ownership of Carl House, the grounds were overgrown and looked like a jungle needing a vision and tender, sweet, loving attention.

With the savvy of my landscaping team, we created a design to highlight the gorgeous magnolias and my favorite, the Bald Atlas Cedar and coveted Japanese Maple which I literally circled while the bulldozers moved ground for creating our vision.

We created a ceremony location with a backdrop of Cherry Trees, surrounding weeping willows which wave in the breeze, making hot summer months seem cool, azaleas to highlight spring and rose bushes surrounding our gazebo with color and fragrance, colorful annuals and perhaps my favorite, the richly fragrant gardenias just outside the ballroom, wafting magically as our brides make their entrance to their eager grooms waiting at the far end of the bridal path.

On the grounds since, dozens of brides have left the property with enormous smiles, sparkling rings on their fingers, while holding tightly the arms of their honored husbands.

I’m excited to see these gorgeous gardens coming once again, as if with magic, in bloom. And how delighted I am that each bride who descends down the path to meet her beloved, will do so with the artistry of these gardens and a fragrance of what I consider must be the scent of heaven.

Oh, the love of a garden and honored am I to be its steward.

We hope you’ll come visit soon and often! And PLEASE, if you are planning on booking your wedding at Carl House, we encourage you to do so by the end of this month to be entered into our honeymoon giveaway listed in our earlier blog.

Best wishes,

BB Webb
