The facility:

Elegance, style and hospitality are the hallmarks of your Carl House event. From indoor or outdoor ceremonies and receptions in the elegant ballroom or magnificent Southern gardens, your Carl House wedding will create the memories you will cherish for a lifetime. Located in North Georgia, close to Atlanta, Carl House is also an ideal facility for business meetings, corporate celebrations and other special events.

The history:

Now on every Atlanta and North Georgia bride’s ‘must see’ list, Carl House had its 1903 beginnings as a private residence and ornamental plant nursery. Now an authentic piece of historical Georgia, Carl House has been lovingly transformed into a spectacular gathering place, preserved for current and future generations to enjoy.

Carl House owner BB Webb is an entrepreneur, writer, speaker and talk show host. With a background in theatre, she has an eye for what is original and creative. Over the years she has honed both her marketing and business skills to enable the birth of multiple creative projects and new businesses. In 1990, she wrote, produced, marketed, and performed in her own one-woman play, Through Ruby's Eyes, which she toured nationwide.

In 2002 she saw an opportunity with what is now “Carl House,” to bring together her various skills by creating, a full service event facility which could utilize her theatre background, leadership, marketing and sales smarts. She completely renovated this 100-year old antebellum home, added a ballroom and third floor, and had the grounds professionally landscaped. Carl House has consistently been named by Gwinnett Magazine as the “Best Place to Get Married” and the “Best Place to Have a Business Meeting or Retreat.” Carl House was named as ‘Best Reception Site’ by Atlantabridal.com and voted in the ‘best of’ category by The Knot magazine and was given the ‘Bride’s Choice Award’ by Wedding Wire.

In 2009 BB Webb was selected as one of five finalists for the coveted WE Excel Award by the National Association of Women Business Owners Atlanta Chapter. She recently appeared as a ‘Hard Knocks’ judge in the new CBS program, ‘The Next Tycoon’. In 2008 she was awarded by Catalyst Magazine as one of the top five entrepreneurs to watch in Atlanta and in September 2006 she was awarded the 'Results Count' award by Atlanta Women in Business during the 'Crossing Bridges' international businesswomen's conference. She is the former host of the successful cable access television program ‘Living Life with Style’ and co-contributor to a Jack Canfield, Jim Rohn book entitled, ‘Rising to the Top.’

Through her new media company, Arriving with BB Webb, she is developing a book series called ‘Tiny Tips of Wisdom for the Small Business Owner.’ Her live presentation ‘It’s Just Weather, Embracing Possibility Thinking or How to Find Your Twirl!’ had a successful premier in the summer of 2008 is being toured throughout 2009. Her big news is the production of a new PBS series, Savvy Women: Redefining Business which she will host and co-produce with Dana Popoff of Good Eats fame due out in the spring of 2010.  Watch out world, BB Webb is on a roll! .

Carl House would have had no beginning without the help of designer Tom Webb's meticulous eye.  While respecting the historic integrity of the home, Tom specialized in recreating the look and feel of the original house by finding old materials and fashioning woodwork to emulate the period of the original house.  For more information about the 'Carl House journey,' read BB's chapter in her latest book, Rising to the Top, co-authored by Jim Rohn and Jack Canfield.
